We just completed Week 2 of our build season and robot fabrication, design finalization and mechanism prototypes are well underway. We were also notified that our own Bailey Hart with input from the Media Division created and won the FRC Safety Animation Award for 2020 – sponsored by Underwriters Laboratory! The Worldwide FRC 2020 Game “Infinite Recharge” was revealed on Sat Jan 4 & the Lightning Turtles were in attendance with Team 2239 The Technocrats from Hopkins at our local Heritage Middle School. We have jumped right into the design and prototyping part of our season – all systems forward!
Our fall training and pre-season has wrapped up with a Grand Finale team tournament – the Turtle Trials Challenge Series – Game: Quick Quota – on Dec 13/14. An amazing, well-run tournament and all the robots behaved themselves and worked when needed. On to the 2020 FRC Worldwide Kickoff on January 4th for the newest game: Infinite Recharge – sponsored by Disney and Star Wars. Can’t wait!
Close to wrapping up pre-season training and good team success at our last off-season tournament – Minne-Mini Regional. That was the last competition for our 2019 robot – Razorback – who now heads into retirement to visit schools and many other outreach activities.
Pre-season training continues and the Lightning Turtles head out into the community to promote STEM.
The Lightning Turtles delivered their first on-sight team training at the Southern Minnesota Robotics Training event on Sat Nov 16.

Our Sibley Robotics Lightning Turtles Season is off to a great start. Nine new rookies joined the team and all members of the team are participating in a fall hand’s on training session and mini-competition called the Turtle Trials Competition Series. Much more detail in the newsletter below.
It was a crazy last 10 days to the build season, but we made it in good shape and we’re ready for our upcoming competitions.
The team got back on track after weather related cancellations the previous week and we made amazing progress!
