CNC Machining I

Fabrication 22 - CNC Mill I

The CNC (Computer Numeric Control) mill is a tool that is used to make very accurate cuts and drill accurate hole patterns. In CNC Mill I students will learn to operate the mill using already prepared CAM (Computer Aided Machining) files. The students will learn how to remove and insert new tooling, how to load in the G-code (CAM files), and how to zero the machine using an edge finder and a simple piece of paper. They will also learn how to set up the coolant for the machine and to carefully track the status of the operations.

Fabrication 23 - CNC Plasma I

The CNC Plasma is used to cut complex shapes out of sheet metal. In CNC Plasma I fabricators will learn how to perform the CAM operations given a .dxf file. They will also learn how to operate the CNC Plasma machine assuming it is already started up and ready to run.

Fabrication 24 - CNC Router I

The CNC Router is primarily used to cut complex shapes out of plywood and sheet plastic. In CNC Router I fabricators will learn how to perform the CAM operations given a .dxf file. They will also learn how to set up and clamp materials,  and to zero the router. Finally, they will operate and monitor the CNC Router in making cuts.
